With reference to World Heart Day celebrated on September 25th, Łódź division of Polish Cardiac Society in cooperation with Port Łódź shopping centre organized an event whose aim was to inform about cardiovascular diseases. The event was supported by NIOM employees from Department of Work Physiology and Ergonomics within the framework of Human Capital Programme. Visitors had an apportunity to take basic medical examinations and get professional consultation on heart care.  

The goal of World Heart Day initiative is prevention of heart diseases. Experts emphasize that these can be avoided by change of lifestyle, early detection of risk factors and eduacating society. In partnership with WHO, UNICEF and UNESCO, the World Heart Federation organizes awareness events since year 2000 in more than 100 countries. In Poland it took place for the eighth time.
