ResearchGate is an international, free of charge service addressed to researchers. Currently it has more than 3 mln of registered users. The service allows to search through scientific literature and to archive texts yourself (so called self-archiving). ResearchGate provides the scientists with the opportunity to exchange information, articles, help with finding cooperators for further scientific research and opportunity to search through job offers.

The service provides statistics informing, among others, which scientific disciplines are represented by registered scientists or where and from which institutions the most active users come from. Moreover, each registered user has his/her unique profile, which can be observed having at the same time insight into how many publications given scientist has had in his career; from which countries the people who most frequently visit his/her profile are; how many times publication of given researcher was downloaded via the service and how many citations he/she has.
