On 12–13 February 2015 in the Hague (Netherlands) a conference entitled ‘Chronic Diseases and Healthy Ageing (CD-HA)’ organized by The Consumers, Health, Agriculture and Food Executive Agency (CHAFEA) in cooperation with the Netherland’s Ministry of Health, Welfare and Sport as well as The Netherlands Enterprise Agency took place.

Among over 150 people representing more than 100 institutions who took part in the meeting there were also two representatives of The Nofer Institute of Occupational Medicine in Lodz – Piotr Sakowski, MPH and Maciej Dobras, MPH from the Department of Health Policy, who actively participated in the discussion. The objective of the conference was to present the so-far results of the projects realized within the EU Health Programme 2008–2013, as well as to discuss current problems and their solutions in the field of chronic diseases prevention and healthy ageing. Piotr Sakowski delivered a presentation entitled ‘Effective prevention framework and management of chronic diseases’ and was one of the participants in the discussion panel dedicated to prevention of chronic diseases across the lifecycle. The conference was an excellent opportunity to present to the representatives of major institutions and units from the EU countries (Belgium, France, Germany, Ireland, Luxemburg, the Netherlands, Spain as well as Great Britain) current activities of NIOM in the field of healthy ageing. It was also a great chance to establish new contacts, so useful in the perspective of realization of future research projects and international cooperation.
