On the 13th of July 2016 European Commission officially announced the results of this year’s Call for Reference Sites of the European Innovation Partnership on Active and Healthy Ageing (EIP AHA). The consortium of Lodz on a scale 1-4 stars has received 2 stars simultaneously becoming the only site in Poland with such renown.

Lodz Reference Site is a great success for the partners of the Consortium i.e. Lodz Voivodeship, the City of Lodz, Medical University of Lodz, Nofer Institute of Occupational Medicine in Lodz, University Clinical Hospital No. 1 in Lodz and  Ericpol LLC.

Decision of the EC constitutes an award for the so-far contribution to the actions for the sake of a widely understood pro-senior policy, but also a great commitment to work intensively in this field in the future.

The press conferences organized on this occasion on the premises of the Medical University in Lodz was attended, inter alia, by the representatives of the Consortium:

– Witold Stępień – Marshal of Lodz Voivodeship
– prof. Lucyna Woźniak – Vice-Rector for Science, Medical University of Lodz
– prof. Konrad Rydzyński – Director General, Nofer Institute of Occupational Medicine
– Iwona Iwanicka – Deputy Director of the Department of Health and Social Affairs of the Department of Communication and Health, the Office of the City of Lodz City Office
– Anna Murlewska, PhD – Deputy Director for Medical Affairs, Clinical University No.1 in Lodz

All the representatives have unanimously agreed that Lodz Reference Site is a great success and simultaneously a chance for the city of Lodz and the whole region.

EIP AHA is an initiative of the European Commission, which consists in cooperation between European Commission and countries, regions, industry, employees of health and social care as well as organizations that represent older people and patients. This partnership aims at improvement of health and life quality of older people and increasing their participation in social life.

Since so far only 32 European Consortia, mainly those from Western Europe,  had the status of Reference Sites of the European Innovation Partnership on Active and Healthy Ageing, the call was an attempt to expand the scope of cooperation in the field of innovation and good practices in the field of “healthy ageing”.

Lodz Reference Site will be the only such a center in Poland and one of two such sites in Central-Eastern Europe.
