Abstract
The eye is one of the first organs to encounter environmental and occupational allergens. Due to this fact, ocular inflammation is a common problem among patients suffering from allergies. The most common form of ocular allergy is allergic conjunctivitis (AC). This term comprises different forms of this disease. Occupational allergic conjunctivitis (OAC), occurring at the workplace (induced by occupational allergens) is a specific kind of AC. This disease is not well recognized and probably underestimated. The authors describe pathogenesis, symptoms, etiology, diagnostics, prophylaxis and medical certification procedures of this condition. Med Pr 2007;58(2):125ś130Key words
