The project co-funded by the EU from the resources of the European Fund for Regional Development as part of Innovative Economy Operational Programme

The main objective of the project is to create a modern, integrated IT system used to obtain current data on the state of health of working population, which will constitute basis for further research and development of actions addressed to this population.

Detailed objectives:

– development of a system of monitoring of the most common health problems diagnosed during prophylactic medical check-ups;
– development of a system of data on work-related diseases collection, including obtaining complete information on suspicions of occupational diseases;
– introduction of electronic register of decisions certifying an occupational disease;
– development of additional nation-wide registers of adverse to health phenomena associated with work performance (e.g. keeping a register of incidents associated with discontinuity of tissues in medical personnel);
– collection of data allowing for assessment of changes in the state of health of working population and their determinants depending on time as well as comparison of selected aspects with populations from other countries ;
– collection of data on the risk factors for civilization diseases;
– obtaining tools for performance of epidemiological studies in the field of health care of working population in Poland.

Achieving those aims requires development and implementation of a suitable comprehensive IT system allowing obtaining, aggregation and analysis of necessary data. Such a system will make it possible to download selected medical data on the most frequent civilization diseases as well as ailments associated with the performed work (the data entered to the system via keeping electronic medical documentation of prophylactic medical examinations) automatically. The main assumption of the system functioning is integration of the developed within the project system with the already used by physicians medical documentation software. The system will have mechanisms allowing for implementation of data collection sheets in applications used by physicians. This will ensure continuity of functioning of data collection system, irrespective of further involvement of physicians.

The developed system will contain specific modules concerning individual work-related health hazards. A nation-wide system for collection of data on incidents associated with discontinuity of tissues in medical personnel as well as actions taken as part of after-exposure prophylaxis can be an example of such a module. It will make it possible to quantitatively assess the scale of the problem and the degree of the risk of blood-borne infections transmission in our country. It will allow for development of better and safer ways to perform work and better after-exposure procedures based on evidence-based medicine.
