In the Allergy Diagnostics Laboratory, operating under the Clinic of Occupational Diseases and Toxicology and the Center of Occupational Allergy and Environmental Health, laboratory examinations are performed. The Laboratory staff also performs non-standard and highly specialized allergo-immunologic examinations for the purpose of research projects implemented in the Nofer Institute of Occupational Medicine in Łódź.

The scope of basic services:
− skin prick tests, basic and expanded panels,
− determination of total serum IgE antibodies level,
− determination of serum specific IgE antibodies level,
− determination of allergic inflammatory mediators (ECP, mastocyt triptase, MPO, EPO),
− determination of C1 inhibitor activity,
− performance of respiratory function tests:
     - spirometric examinations,
       - bronchial hyperreactivity tests, specific (with metacholine) and nonspecific (with inhaled allergens,
       - reversible brochospasm tests,
− specific inhalatory and nasal challenge tests with workplace allergens using the methods assuring their objectivity,
− cytologic and biochemical assessment of materials derived from the respiratory system:
       - nasal lavage examination (method of nasal pool according to Greiff),
       - sputum induced examination,
− morphological and biochemical analyses of lacrimal fluid composition,
− cytologic assessment of nasal swab,
− assessment of allergic inflammatory mediators released from eozynofiles, lymphocytes, and mast cells (ECP, cytokines: IL-4, IL-5, IL-6, TNF-alpha, IFN and others).

The staff employed in the Laboratory is highly qualified and experienced. The employees constantly participate in training courses to improve their professional qualifications.
